How do I enroll for the card?
- Download the Alterna Sin Fronteras App using the link provided to you.
- The first screen you will see when starting your enrollment might ask for a referral code. Enter the following referral code then continue with your enrollment: SP26W
What do I need to enroll for the card?
- You will need a smartphone to download and enroll through the Alterna Sin Fronteras
- You will need ONLY ONE of the following primary IDs: 1) Social Security Number, 2) government-issued photo ID from your country of origin 3) U.S. Driver’s License
- If enrolling with a government-issued photo ID from your country of origin, you will also need to provide a secondary ID:
- If you are originally from Mexico, one of the following secondary IDs is acceptable: USA Phone bill, USA Water/Power bill, USA Gas bill, Any USA Monthly bill in your name, recent USA Pay Sub, USA Bank Statement, Employer´s Letterhead confirming your address, USA driver´s license, INE, Passport, Driver´s license or Consular ID Card. If you don’t have proof of address under your name, you will need to present a recent bill with the name of your landlord or someone who you live with at the same address you used when enrolling for your card, accompanied by a letter from that person confirming you live at that address. (Address proof can´t be more than three months old). You can obtain a copy of the affidavit from the person or organization assisting you with your enrollment.
- If you are originally from Guatemala, one of the following secondary IDs is acceptable: USA Phone bill, USA Water/Power bill, USA Gas bill, Any USA Monthly bill in your name, recent USA Pay Sub, USA Bank Statement, Employer´s Letterhead confirming your address, USA driver´s license, Consular ID Card, Passport, DUI, Driver´s license or DPI, If you don’t have proof of address under your name, you will need to present a recent bill with the name of your landlord or someone who you live with at the same address you used when enrolling for your card, accompanied by a letter from that person confirming you live at that (Address proof can´t be more than three months old). You can obtain a copy of the affidavit from the person or organization assisting you with your enrollment.
- If you are from El Salvador, Nicaragua, Panama, Honduras, Costa Rica or other
country in Latin America, one of the following secondary IDs is acceptable: USA Phone bill, USA Water/Power bill, USA Gas bill, any USA Monthly bill in your name, recent USA Pay Sub, USA Bank Statement or an Employer´s Letterhead confirming your address, If you don’t have proof of address under your name, you will need to present a recent bill with the name of your landlord or someone who you live with at the same address you used when enrolling for your card, accompanied by a letter from that person confirming you live at that address. Is there a monthly fee for the card?
- No, there is no monthly There is a one-time activation $10 fee that will be charged the first time you load money on your card.
When will my card arrive?
- Your Alterna Sin Fronteras Card will arrive in the mail to the address you provided in your enrollment within 14 business days.
How do I load my card?
- Direct deposit of paycheck or other electronic payments like government
- Bank to Card Transfer from approved
- Transfers between Alterna and other Alterna/UnicaCard

- For easy and convenient cash loading using a bar code, choose “Deposit without a card” in your app to find a participating retailer near you.
Where can I use my card to make payments?
- Mastercard cards are accepted at over 4 million locations worldwide and online to pay bills and make purchases.
Where can I withdraw money?
- You can withdraw cash at any local Choose “checking” option to proceed with your transaction. ($2.50 program fee and ATM operator fees apply).
- Cash Back at participating retailers ($0.50 program fee applies).
How much can I withdraw per day?
- You can withdraw up to $500 per day at both ATMs and cash back
Can I transfer money card-to-card with other Alterna Sin Fronteras cardholders in the U.S.?
- Go to your Alterna Sin Fronteras app and choose “Transfer”. Then enter the requested information to identify the recipient of the transfer and enter the amount you want to send. You can transfer up to $500 per day, $10,000 per month.
How will I know when card-to-card money transfer to Mexico is ready to use?
- You will receive a text message, email, and a notification in your Alterna Sin Fronteras App when card-to-card money transfer to Mexico is ready.
How can I review my account?

If my prepaid card is stolen, lost or damaged, how can I get a replacement?
- If you lose your card or someone steals it, you should immediately deactivate your card in your Alterna Sin Fronteras App. You will see the “activate/deactivate” button on your home screen as soon as you login. Then Call the customer support line +1 (888) 877-2268 to request a replacement All your funds will be transferred to your new card.
How can I report an unknown charge?
- Please call to the customer attention line on +1(888) 877-2268 where we will help you to create a report and solve the unknown charge process or write us at 2600 SW 3rd Ave, Suite 730, Miami, FL33129 as soon as you can.
How much can I load on my card?
- You can load $1000 in cash per day and receive $5000 in Direct Deposit per The maximum balance you can have at any one time is $10,000.
Do I have a minimum balance in my account?
- No, there is not a minimum balance requirement or any minimum balance
How to generate my telephone security code?
- To access the Customer Service Line at +1 (888)877-2268 and be able to know balances, movements, clarifications, questions and information about your Alterna Card account, you must create your Telephone Security Code.
- Select option 7 “Change or recover phone security key” then option 2 “Lost or can’t remember it”. It will ask you for the following information: card number, CVV of the card and the postal code registered in the application and your date of birth.
Can I use my card for services that require monthly automatic recurring payments?
- You can sign up for monthly recurring payments using either your card number or your account and routing number. Your account and routing number are found on the home screen of the Alterna App.
How are my funds protected?
- Your funds are FDIC insured up to $250,000 and your account is protected under Mastercard/s Zero Liability Protection.
