If one of our Partners promoted the Alterna Prepaid Mastercard to you, you should have received an email from them with the link you will use to enroll for your card. If you did not, request the link from them and proceed with the enrollment of your card using that link.

  • Share Money in Real Time, Card-To-Card, with Any Other U.S. Alterna Card ($0.50 fee for up to $500)
  • Social Security Number is required for US Citizens. Non US Citizens can enroll with Individual Taxpayer Identification Number (ITIN)1
  • $5.95 Monthly Fee 2,7 – Waved if there is at least one electronic direct deposit made in the previous calendar month
  • Bilingual Mobile App and SMS Text Messaging Feature,to manage your account including, check balance, transactions and share money with U.S. Alterna cardholders quickly
  • Refer Family and Friends in Mexico to enroll for a personalized Prepaid Mastercard5, issued by a bank in Mexico, and transfer money card-to-card in real time6. (COMING SOON)
  • Alterna cardholders who receive payroll direct deposit into their Alterna Card account will receive two WAIVED FEE cash withdrawals per month (at least one electronic direct deposit in the previous calendar month is required to receive the two WAIVED FEE ATM withdrawals)2

1 IMPORTANT INFORMATION ABOUT PROCEDURES FOR OPENING A CARD ACCOUNT: To help the government fight the funding of terrorism and money laundering activities, federal law requires that we obtain, verify and record information about each person who opens an account with us. What this means for you: when you open an Account, we will ask for your name, address, date of birth, social security number or individual taxpayer identification number (ITIN) and other information that will allow us to identify you. We may also ask to see your driver’s license or other identifying documents.

Visa’s Zero Liability Policy covers U.S.-issued cards and does not apply to certain commercial card transactions, any transactions not processed by Visa, or to anonymous prepaid cards (until such time as the identity of the cardholder has been registered with us). You must notify your financial institution immediately of any unauthorized use. For specific restrictions, limitations and other details, please consult your issuer.
2. To minimize losses, Cardholder must notify Customer Service promptly of any loss of the card or compromise of the Card Account. Other terms apply. See the Terms and Conditions for details.
